1770, Bundaberg, Toogoom, Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Rainbow beach.

We finally made it to 1770 the next day, unfortunately, it hadn't stopped raining so we couldn't get any Pictures :(      So we stopped off at a local park to wait for the rain to stop and Andrew went to ask the Ranger if there was any camping available.  The girls and I were just running for cover from the rain when Andrew came back with the news that  the south bound bridge was about to go underwater....uh oh!!  Townsville all over again!!  So we packed up and drove, and drove and drove thinking the rain would stop soon enough...and it did!!!   Welcome to Bundaberg!!!

But Alas!!  Rum is not the only thing Bundaberg has to offer ;-)

Very Impressive.

A great lookout.

Beautiful views.

and Gorgeous old buildings....and if they weren't beautiful...

...they worked hard to make them that way :)

We stayed in Bundaberg for two nights and after a very cold dip in the pool after breakfast, we headed off to explore some more of our beautiful State.   But the rain found us again and followed us most of  the way to a nice little town called Toogoom.  So we stopped for a bite to eat in the sunshine.....

Those rain clouds are getting ready to do their thing!

.... not before the girls had a play in the sun.   Bella was not going to be caught in the rain without her boots for anyone :)
So when the rain started again we headed off with the intention of arriving in Hervey Bay and our wish was granted when we asked for a sunny day...

Any excuse for a dry scooter ride...or a dry anything really

The girls made a friend :D

And I managed to find an abundance of photo opportunities...

It was a very short overnight stay in Hervey bay as we caught up on a lot of washing at the caravan park, the use of a dryer certainly made life easier!!

So on to the lovely Maryborough...she speaks for herself...

...she's certainly aging gracefully :)

We have family in Norway and when Hayley saw this sign, well I wasn't going anywhere until I took this photo and promised to include it in our blog :D

We then found a nice little town called Tiaro where we had horses across from one side of our camp and a park with a big playground on the other...so the kids were set and we could relax...

I love windmills :)

We camped in Tiaro for two nights and spent a lot of that time going for walks or relaxing, its a cute, friendly little town and I would definitely visit again.  But it was time to move on and we found a fantastic place to lunch in Bauple.  They have a great Museum there and the picnic/BBQ area is on the grounds....

We were sitting at the picnic table in this photo, the BBQ is just behind us...just charming.

By this stage the kids hadn't had a swim for a while so we decided to take them to a place where Andrews parents took him as a child...Inskip point, Rainbow Beach!  We found a perfect camping area, unhitched the caravan and headed straight for the inland track...

and after some beautiful nature pics...

...we took our car onto the beach for the first time....and got bogged!!!
With some help from a couple of friendly strangers we were out of there in no time :)

and it was definitely worth the extra effort.

We found a perfect spot at Double Island Point....

The water was cold, but Hayley didn't seem to notice...

Bella prefers it warm and dry with extra sand!

After a long day of swimming and building sand castles, the fish were calling...but we obviously don't speak fish because we couldn't find them!!!  Oh well, we had fun trying...and on that note, we have come to the end of yet another long blog post so I'll leave you at the beach and until next time, stay warn,  Caz xo
