Our travels

Our last days in Townsville saw us visiting the museum and the river walk where they have a lagoon, long walking trails and a beautiful big park.  We just happened to visit on the day that right next door in the football stadium, was a fundraising concert for those who suffered loss due to the North Queensland floods and cyclone Yasi.  The line up was fantastic, the fact that my camera had stopped working, not so much.  It started with a great performance by Dragon, they are a must see if you ever get the opportunity.  Ricki-lee Coulter was a class act and sounded better than ever, Stan Walker was awesome, I'd love to see him live again, Shannon Noll, although I'm not a fan, he was great too but obviously the man of the hour (or 7 as it turned out to be from Dragon to when Jimmy came on ) was Jimmy Barnes, yeah, he's still got it!!  But we had to leave after his third song because our kids had already fallen asleep, well, it was after 10.30, way past the usual 7.30 pm bedtime :)  Turned out to be the best day/night so far.

Late the next morning we packed up and went to the Ross river dam and it was well worth the big hill to get up and the millions of stairs to get down (well, they do have little legs)  Here are some pics...

Sadly, the previous plaque didn't make it :P

And the magnificent blue water sunset yet again

So we finally found the roads where clear and we headed out of Townsville, we stopped for lunch at a little place called Sandy Corner, this stone commemorates where the first store was established...

Poser!

A couple of beaches were calling our names in the Burderkin Shire...

The reluctant shoulder ride.

before we finally found ourselves in lovely Bowen.....

I'll take two please....

Then it was on to the Stunning Airlie Beach.......

I wonder if they get insurance up there?

I'll leave you at the beautiful Airlie beach, until next time, Caz xo
