Slowly catching up

So I left you at sunset, at the beautiful blue water camping area.  This was one of the places that made me sad  It was originally a nature walk with kids play areas throughout, but since the floods and cyclone Yasi, the damage made it look unloved and overgrown.  I saw pictures of before and after and the damage was extensive.  I have no doubt the local council will have it up and running in no time (they were clearing and cleaning up the debris both times that we stayed there) and I would recommend a visit if you're ever up that way.

The kids loved the park, this was their favourite park and many hours were spent playing while I studied and Andrew played, although I did squeeze a little play time in too :D (Sorry, no pics of me playing...this time :)).

Isabella found some locals and quickly made friends....

Intrigued with a place called blue water that actually does have blue water we decided to go on a trek...and this is what we stumbled upon...

Where I am standing to take this picture, the water had been approximately 3 meters higher, scary!  The debris was incredible, everywhere! Large similar trees that look so strong as they stand are now lying in creek beds.  You can really see how fast they have cleaned up here, but there is still a lot of work to do.

Next we headed up to the Harvey Range, and the damage here was clear for all to see but the view, just as spectacular, as always...

Next on the "to do" list is big Crystal creek and little Crystal creek.  There was a short walk leading up to big crystal creek so we took some water and headed off, the kids were eager to get going.....

Hayley loves a good trek...

Lots to see on the way....

I hope the rain stays away....

Yay, we made it...

a time to reflect...

Big crystal creek is so beautiful...even the tree's dressed up...

Time to hit some of Townsville's hot spots, first, "The Strand"

A quick lesson in marine biology :)

Self explanatory!!

Then for a wander around the outskirts of  Townsville city...

Hayley says maybe the dinosaur can't read? hehehe
